Australian Writers' Week 2009 will start in this week, and the forum hosted by Australian Studies Centre at RUC will be held on 8:30-11:00 AM, March 19th at Room 501, Mingde International Building. Three most renowned Australian writers will give a series of lectures to Australian Studies and literature students at RUC.

Domestic Relations

China has many avant-garde research centres on Australia. The research centres at Peking University and BFSU are close friends of our centre. Aiming at both cultivating good relations between Australian people and Chinese people, we all attach great importance to the fostering of competent master degree students. Our Centre

logo Australian Studies Centre is a teaching and research institution of RUC. The Centre was officially established on 19 November, 1999. The aim of the Centre is to help more people know more about Australia.

ASC at RUC has successfully held Australian Culture Weeks annually from the year 2000 till 2009. The Australian Culture Week has already become an annual event at Renmin University of China. The activities of the Australian Culture Weeks are popular among the students and teaching staff and other universities in Beijing. The activities held during the Australian Culture Week at RUC have received wide media coverage and have begun to show its impact on other walks of life in the community. Australian Culture Week proves to be a good opportunity to promote person-to-person communication between Australian and Chinese peoples. The Centre at RUC has also established links with various universities in Australia. Well-known scholars such as Prof. Colin Mackerras, Prof. David Walker, Dr Jamie Greenbaum, and other Australian friends have all made great contribution to the Centre. Up to now, twenty eight masters degree students have graduated from the Centre, and nine other students are doing their masters degrees at the Centre.
